"In highschool I had a therapist who made me feel heard, this was something I had wanted for so long. The feeling I felt when working with my therapist sparked a desire within myself to want to create that feeling for others. Challenges in life are inevitable and challenges for females are unique, having someone create a safe place for your feelings to be heard can help with navigating through the hard times." 

Hello! I'm Tessa, I am currently completing my practicum internship at Dragonfly as part of my Masters in Counselling degree program. I will be at Dragonfly from September 2024 - April 2025.  I will be offering low cost counselling to the community.  I will be supervised by Melissa Foster, one of the Registered Psychologists at Dragonfly.   

From a young age I knew I wanted to do something that involved helping others. It wasn’t until my last year of my bachelor's degree that I knew I wanted to fully dive in the psychology world, pursue a master's degree, and become a therapist.

​I am acutely aware of the unique challenges of being a teen girl, as I grew up playing competitive There was a time when I was able to try out for a boys team. It was incredibly disappointing that II did not make the top team, not because I didn’t have the skill, but because I was a female and they didn’t think it would be fair for a girl to take a boys spot. The boys on the team I did not make were ones I had played with every year since I began playing. This was the first time as a young girl I realized the challenges I would face based on my gender and has been an instrumental experience on my path to support teen girls and young women, help them to advocate for themselves, and encourage them to live up to their potential
