About Reyan

"My adolescence was a time of self-exploration, marked by introspection and the challenge of finding my identity. These experiences, while often difficult, taught me resilience and the importance of support, leading me to the transformative power of therapy."

Hello! I'm Reyan, I am currently completing my practicum internship at Dragonfly as part of my Masters in Counselling degree program. I will be at Dragonfly from January - September 2024.  I will be offering low cost counselling to the community.  I will be supervised by Dani Spackman, one of the Registered Psychologists at Dragonfly.

From a young age, I was acutely aware of the unique challenges faced by women. Growing up, I navigated the complexities of adolescence, peer relationships, and societal expectations, which profoundly influenced my empathy and understanding.

This early exposure to life's emotional complexities sparked a deep interest in psychological support. Witnessing many young women, myself included, struggle with self-esteem, identity, and belonging, I developed a passion for empowering those at the vulnerable crossroads of youth and adulthood.

As I begin my internship at Dragonfly Psychological Services, I am excited to contribute my passion, experience, and skills towards supporting the psychological and emotional well-being of our clients. I am passionate and dedicated to empowering young girls and women and look forward to meeting you.

Professional Experience

In the past few years, I have devoted myself to working with pregnant and parenting youth in group homes. This experience has given me deep insights into the complexities faced by young women and mothers and the resilience required to overcome such challenges. Additionally, I have supported children and youth preparing to exit the group care system, many of whom were grappling with depression, anxiety, trauma, and suicidal ideation. My experience extends to working with refugee children and their families, assisting them in their transition to life in Canada. This work involved not only providing essential resources but also using play to build bonds and facilitate healing. I have also had the opportunity to work with military families, helping them navigate the unique challenges of deployments and the resultant anxieties and relationship conflicts.

My practice incorporates various therapeutic approaches, including Attachment Theory, Systemic Approaches, Narrative Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Solution Focused Therapy, and Theraplay. This integrative approach allows me to tailor my methods to the individual needs of my clients.

If my story speaks to you, I warmly invite you to reach out for a consultation. Let's explore together the path towards healing, empowerment, and personal growth.
