Therapy for Depression
You don’t have to carry this alone — healing is possible.
At Dragonfly, our therapists offer a real, down-to-earth space where you can be yourself — no judgment, no pressure. We focus on building a relationship based on trust and meeting you where you’re at, so you feel truly heard and supported from the very first session.
When the spark is gone and everything feels heavy...
Have you been feeling exhausted, unmotivated, or emotionally numb? Do you find yourself withdrawing from friends or family, even though you wish you could feel connected again?
Are small tasks—like getting out of bed, replying to texts, or making decisions—starting to feel overwhelming?
Depression can show up in many different ways. You may be constantly exhausted but struggle to sleep. You might feel emotionally flat, yet still find yourself crying unexpectedly. You may be going through the motions at work or at home while quietly struggling to hold it all together inside. And while part of you may know you’re not “lazy” or “too sensitive,” it’s hard to shake the shame or guilt that often comes with depression.
Women often carry the weight of expectations—being capable, caring, composed. But beneath that surface, it’s easy to feel depleted and alone. You might be wondering, “Will I always feel this way?”
The truth is: Depression is treatable. With the right support, you can start to feel like yourself again—or even discover a more grounded, authentic version of yourself you didn’t know was possible.

You're not alone with this...
Many women experience depression at some point in their lives. In fact, women are nearly twice as likely as men to be diagnosed with depression—often due to the complex mix of hormonal changes, societal pressures, life transitions, trauma, or caregiving roles.
Whether you’re navigating a new chapter, stuck in burnout, healing from trauma, or just trying to get through the day, depression doesn’t mean you’re broken or weak. It’s a signal that something needs care—not a flaw in who you are.
We understand how heavy this can feel. That’s why we’re here to offer a space where you don’t have to pretend everything’s fine. A place where you can be met with compassion, not judgment. And with the right tools and support, there’s real hope for relief and reconnection.
Therapy can help you feel like yourself again.
Depression therapy offers more than just coping—it can help you reconnect with your sense of self.
At Dragonfly, we work with women of all ages who are struggling with depression—whether it’s been
a lifelong battle or a new and confusing change. You don’t have to explain away your pain or minimize
your feelings here. We meet you where you are.
We use a blend of approaches depending on your needs, including cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT)
to challenge negative thought patterns, acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT) to build emotional
flexibility, and emotion-focused or relational therapy to address deeper wounds or unmet needs. We
also explore the unique pressures you may be carrying as a woman—whether that’s related to
academics, career, body image, relationships, motherhood, or past trauma.
In sessions, we’ll start by helping you understand your symptoms and identify patterns that may be
keeping you stuck. Together, we’ll explore both your inner experiences and your external stressors.
Along the way, we’ll help you develop practical tools for managing emotions, improving your energy
and focus, and rebuilding self-compassion.
Therapy can help you move from a place of just surviving to one where life feels more manageable—and maybe even meaningful—again.
We’ve worked with many women who’ve felt hopeless, stuck, or like they had to hold it all together for others. Over time, with the right support, we’ve seen them reclaim their strength, soften their self-talk, and start to genuinely feel better. Healing isn’t always linear, but you don’t have to walk that path alone.
You deserve support that is real, grounded, and tailored to you.
We’re not here to give you generic advice or push a one-size-fits-all plan. Instead, we focus on building
a strong, supportive relationship with you—one rooted in respect, warmth, and curiosity.
We believe real healing starts with feeling safe and seen.
You don’t have to face everything alone – that’s what being brave really means.

But Have Some Questions...
I feel like I should be able to handle this on my own. Is it weak to ask for help?
Not at all. In fact, it takes courage to reach out—especially when you’ve been trying so hard to keep it together. Many women are taught to put others first and push through their pain, but healing often starts when you give yourself permission to stop carrying it all alone.
How do I know if what I’m feeling is depression or just stress or burnout?
Depression often overlaps with stress or burnout, especially for women juggling multiple roles. If you’ve been feeling persistently low, withdrawn, or like you’re just “getting through the day” with little joy or motivation, therapy can help you understand what’s going on. You don’t need a diagnosis to seek support—if something feels off, that’s reason enough.
What if I don’t even know how to talk about how I feel?
That’s more common than you think. Many women struggle to find words for what they’re experiencing, especially if they’ve been suppressing their emotions. A therapist can gently help you explore what’s beneath the surface, at your pace. You don’t have to come in with all the answers.
What if I’m already on medication or considering it?
That’s totally okay. Therapy can work alongside medication or be a standalone approach, depending on your needs. Your comfort and preferences always guide the process. Whether you're exploring therapy for the first time or complementing other treatment, you're in the right place.
